I could use good drill for baseball.
What are some good drills to help me keep my head in, and to make me twist
my back hip. Im 15 6'1'' about 235 l think... just figured l would throw
that in there.
I assume you are talking about hitting..You need a more
centered swing to keep ur head still..(wait - are you Andruw Jones??? I
told you I wasn't going to tell you what you were doing wrong)
Take a normal hard swing & mark where ur front foot landed. Then move ur
front foot back 3 to 4 inches, don't talk yourself into anymore than that
(your mind may tell you that you would be more comfortable but you will get used to it). Then take ur stance at the plate with about 90% of ur weight on ur back leg. Don’t move the front foot back before the swing, watch yourself this will be ur first reaction to try to take a big step into the ball. The idea is to take the step almost out of the swing; you will naturally take a small step (the 3 inches you took away). You also have a tendency to start ur hands too far forward causing you to start ur swing by having to pull the bat back & will take ur hands out of position. After taking ur stance, pull ur hands far back so that you are just moving them forward when you swing. A quick tip I used was to set my hands at top of the strike zone so I would know that if a ball was above my hands – don’t swing, it’s a ball. This is the hardest part to “tell you” I usually show this part because it’s different for everyone but way I found it for myself is to take a very slow motion swing & you feel ur hands start backwards to “cock” for the swing – that is ur point to set ur hands on ur new stance. So now to take a swing you are literally just focusing on the timing & ur swing is started by ur hips. When you take a swing, with no step, ur head & shoulders should remain in the hitting position throughout the swing & should not raise or lower. The small step you take will naturally push ur body & weight back into the power position behind the ball. By doing this you should pick up the ball faster (because ur head doesn't move) & ur hands will be quicker because you start in the hitting zone. Even though at first you may feel like you are losing power you will actually become a more powerful & consistent hitter as long as you are putting yourself into the hitting zone. There are several MLB players who use this method - some guy name Albert Pujols, for what ever that is worth. Even his wife has pointed out to him that when he starts to slump his stance narrows & his weight is too far forward. 1800flowers promo code $10 off
